create by mental act a kid goes into a game store. Let’s just call him… 'Timmy.' Now. Timmy doesn’t undergo a lot of money. So he buys one pack of Tempest. He rips it open and starts tearing through the cards to find the rare. And then he sees it. It’s a big green creature. Seven power. Seven toughness. It’s huge. Huge! He’s eyes keep moving. He glances up at the casting cost:
blah blah blah. Boring. Move on. Timmy looks at the rules text. There’s a bunch of words. Timmy reads. Every turn Timmy gets another creature. Another entire creature. It’s small but in ten turns he’ll have twenty creatures. A 7/7 creature with twenty 1/1s. How does his opponent stop that? It can’t be stopped! Timmy finally exhales. He has found the Holy Grail.
The story of how the first of the named player profiles came to be. In the time since then we've all become well acquainted with his friends Johnny. Spike. Vorthos and Melvin. And of all the psychographic personas. Timmy is probably the most maligned. He makes questionable draft picks because he thinks cards will be fun to play despite being overcosted or easily countered. He makes decks without much regard to mana curves or consistency because he tries to pack in as many alter one-of cards as possible and kinda likes having a deck that doesn't compete the same every bet. He comes to YmtC and shows everyone his crazy dream-card and a lot of the measure it's just not very good. But he doesn't mind. Playing the game is its own reward. So here's a CONTEST devoted to our dear friend Timmy. But it's a contest with a twist. I've heard some people say that no matter what type of gamer you are deep inside everyone's a Timmy when they first play the game. But what happens when Timmy grows up and deep inside he's comfort a Timmy? Fat creatures aren't the be all and end all of the bet no matter how fun they might be and Tim's tastes can be both varied and refined. We're trying to look at all the aspects of Timmy-dom here. First of all the rules:- No Un-cards. I know a lot of Timmies like them but they're really hard to adjudicate alongside regular cards.- No cards from previous contests. I can't really watchdog this but just be honest.- Card art and mockups are allowed and in fact encouraged! (As desire as you provide the card in a plain text version as come up) Flavor will be one of the grading points and an illustration can potentially put a cool card over the top. If you can't get your hands on a picture that looks good a description of the art direction you be is good too. But be warned if you go all the way with this you're taking a risk. If I decide the art is bland or doesn't contribute to the flavor you can suffer points as well. If you don't do anything art-wise you won't lose anything.- No mana costs! I'm going out on a limb here but I think that although separate balancing is a useful skill it's not as if everyone in the contest can playtest the cards to see how well they perform. And who wants to lose points for being off by
? Timmy doesn't care about mana costs that much anyway. Costs for activated abilities can be just as ambiguous if you want. alter a note of the separate's color and that's all that's required! Now to make things interesting Timmy himself is going to sit this one out and get the judging to his friends:Johnny/Timmy
Johnny wants to be creative and show off all the new and unexpected things he can do with his cards. Timmy just wants to have a fun game. Together you get someone who wants to thrill and amaze his opponents with how much fun his new deck is. Incidentally according to MaRo he's the unofficial spokesperson of odd formats that turn the bet on end especially multiplayer. More than any other compose. Timmy is a social player and when he feels the need to express his wild ideas he likes to have an audience. Be the fun guy at the delay. socialise your friends!
Timmyspike is in an unusual position because he wants to play with fun cards but he also has to be competitive. change surface when he's piloting a carefully tuned deck he likes to win big. Say you've got a sleek and efficient hold back engine that can lock down your opponent and all you need is a finisher. Timmyspike says "This is a ameliorate measure for a Dragon!" And it's not just the "finishing move" any big dramatic displace in the come in a well-timed sweeper that devastates your opponent or in some cases change surface the game-winning one turn Combo can get Spike/Timmy excited. Note also that while banish likes powerful cards in general he also likes cards that take skill to use. The proper timing required for a truly game changing or the psychological mini-game of alter Spike a happy player.(Spike/Timmy will also be the unofficial spokesperson of fit in this contest. Since mana costs are undefined this will usually be a minor inform but there are abilities and color pie decisions that could make a card overpowered or underpowered at any cost.)
The game of Magic has a history of amazing artwork and creative stories. There are cards out there with beautiful illustrations and subtle evocative flavor text that will give Vorthos shivers. Timmy doesn't care much for subtlety though. He wants a card that will make him grin say "woah" or maybe change surface laugh. He wants the cool concept cards. The epic artwork. The flavor text that you be to every time you slap the card on the table.
Melvin plays the bet for the sake of the bet itself from the foundation of resource management to the smallest and most obscure interactions of triggers and state-based effects. To paraphrase MaRo. Melvin/Timmy likes exciting cards that don't just do cool things on their own but do cool things together. Unlike Johnny he's not really concerned with exploring the unknown and pulling out strange surprises. Melvin/Timmy's favorite card interactions are sometimes rather obvious or linear but there's very little quite so satisfying to him as pulling the strings of a web of interconnected cards. He's a big fan of tribal-ish themes desire Slivers and just loves the big "build around me" cards.(Melvin Timmy gets to be the adjudicate that cares about proper templating and wording too. Fortunately he's a forgiving sort he just gets a bit itchy when cards desire don't actually work the way they're printed. You'll only lose points on this if your card's ability actually fails to function or is really hard to understand.)
Each adjudicate gives a advance out of ten and the total of those scores determine whether you pass the round or get eliminated. The first eight people to sign up will get a place but conclude free to sign up after the cutoff (within reason). If at some inform there are players who can't continue with the contest. I'll grab someone else for their schedule starting with the most recently eliminated players and dipping into the pool of late-comers if necessary. Things will generally be very open ended and the rounds are straightforward although I'll do my beat to keep things interesting. The entrants so far:
assay VII - winSpeed Dueling Batch #2. Contest #19 - win 3:1The Theme Week Contest - Weatherlight Week: winA Bored Contest - 30 min: win
Unfortunately for you. 2 or 3 smokebraiders on move 2 is even less likely than Abe Lincoln coming approve from the dead to tell you how bad your be is. Sorry peaceEdit: Lincoln never lies...
WHAT? No. There's no way they're printing that. Duress is an amazing card are they seriously going to print something strictly better
Sure shapeshifter is far exceed than Narcomoeba. Chronicler. Teferi. Meloku. Keiga. Jushi. Trinket. Morphling and all the CIP guys that makes Shapeshifter so good because it can copy their effects (Sower. Venser etc.). It's only sad that reality disagrees.
Thank you for understanding what a format-warping separate is. You've earned my first ever given cookie. apply:
It will be a long measure before I give out another cookie like that.
Create a non-creature card. No fatties for this go you'll need to find something else to excite Timmy. And no cop-out sorceries-that-create-creature-tokens either (although more subtle creature related things are just fine). Explore some of the other big colorful effects that make Magic fun. And just to act you on your toes how about we take that last sentence literally and make it multicolored. Lowest two scores ordain be eliminated. Good luck! And remember. Timmy doesn't compassionate much about mana costs.
free a creature: ~ deals damage equal to the sacrificed creatures power to target creature or player. X equals the sacrificed creature's power."head we're out of ammo. I think we should.. wait wait what are you doing? Put me down this... Aaaaaaaaaah!!!!" -Grork measure words. I was going to do this then I realized it had to be multicolored. breathe,Haggling [ U ]
Target opponent gains control of target creature you control with the lowest converted mana cost. Then gain hold back of target creature that player controls with the highest converted mana be."Why would I furnish you my sword for this bottle cap?""Uh it's a magic bottle cap?""Magic you say! Well my friend you undergo made yourself a deal!"
(M deotes an undetermined amount of mana.)SorceryRemove all permanants from the game. Then collide with with all opponents. The winning player chooses a card removed from the bet. That player puts the chosen card into compete under his or her hold back. Each player puts the top card of their library on the bottom of their library. Repeat this process until all permanents removed from the game this way have been put back into compete."Let's see who's the lucky one now!"
(M deotes an undetermined be of mana.)SorceryRemove all permanants from the game. Then clash with all opponents. The winning player chooses a card removed from the game. That player puts the chosen separate into play under his or her control. Each player puts the top separate of their library on the bottom of their library. Repeat this affect until all permanents removed from the bet this way have been put approve into play."Let's see who's the lucky one now!"
As an additional cost to compete Magic Awakening sacrifice all nonland noncreature permanents you hold back. For each permanent sacrificed this way reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card put that card into play and put the rest of the revealed cards on the bottom of your library in any order.
Whenever a creature you control comes into play clash with an opponent three times. If you win two or more of the clashes that creature deals alter equal to its power to target creature or player.

Ok is this my fault for not posting a deadline or did we just lose some populate altogether?...... I'll evaluate the ones that get in by Saturday then decide what to do from there. Bump people!
EnchantmentWhenever you displace a card show it. If it's a creature. Aetherflame deals damage equal to the revealed creature's cater to each creature. Timmy when playing this card:"Hey be. I just revealed. Everything on the field dies! Yaaaay!"
Grades are nearly done but ordain probably have to wait until tomorrow. They're kinda discuss though since the two populate who didn't show up will be eliminated and everyone who made a separate passes. Next round requires a bit of setting up too so just expect things to come about tomorrow
(art: A walk on fire facing drink a Loxodon.)Enchantment-AuraEnchanted creature has "T: This creature deals three damage to target creature or player. Put a depletion counter on it."When enchanted creature has three or more depletion counters on it sacrifice it."That mana/manipulate fiasco gave me an idea..."-Jaya Ballard. Task Mage. T/J says "Most enjoin creature damage suggests combos with Deathtouch but 3 damage is a pretty hefty be to begin with. Second thing that comes to mind is fun stuff with manipulating counters and auras or untapping creatures (measure it alter and you can blast him off a few times even after his "sacrifice me" initiate goes off). Nobody's going to be surprised when it shows up in my red/green aggro/burn deck but throw in some blue maybe a few to go with the theme... It'll be the terror of the delay if it gets going." 7/10T/S says "Direct repeatable alter desire this has the potential to mop up a lot of little threats and alter the way for the win. Auras are always a bit risky of course but if this one sticks you stand a good come about of taking at least one creature with you. You're going to be playing it on something expendable anyway but still card advantage is the bane of all auras." 6/10 T/V says "So say I've got a little expendable creature hanging out behind the front lines of battle while my big fatties duke it out. What's a self-respecting red mage to do? Set it on fire. The visualise of a surprised elephant facing down a burning mouse is worth a smile too. The name's quirky and I'm not sure I like it or not on its own but in a game full of generic fire-themed spells I must admit it sticks in the mind. Plus Jaya Ballard... 'nuff said." 8/10T/M says "The fact that all it requires is any generic creature in order to be effective is a bit of a turn-off. In fact if you've got a creature with some interesting ability odds are you don't want to burn its fur so vanillas and token creatures are ideal candidates. Interactions with other cool abilities are therefore a little bit on the low side. Good utility but I'd really have to stretch to sight any real synergies with other cards. Build-around-me potential is slim" 4/10
EnchantmentWhenever a creature you hold back comes into play clash with an opponent three times. If you win two or more of the clashes that creature deals alter equal to its power to target creature or player. T/J says "Building a deck with this seems almost familiar somehow bringing back old memories of Pandemonium. But hey it doesn't have the downside of letting your opponent hit you approve. There are so many options for bringing creatures into compete but with the
in the be it's a great candidate for a truly nasty bounce-themed be. compete your biggest creatures go them to your hand then play them again! It's like a little juggling show." 8/10T/S says "I'm trying to run some scenarios in my head to see if two out of three clashes actually gives you an advantage over one collide with and I've decided I really like it as a way to add some skill and decision-making to an otherwise random effect since choosing to keep your top card or put it on the bottom of your library has immediate repercussions. As much as randomness bugs me. I evaluate that it's almost worth it just for the chance to dig three cards deeper in examine of my game-winning card. Is it bad that I'm paying more attention to the Clash mechanic than to the actual effect of the card? Eh enjoin alter is fun too." 7/10T/V says "What exactly is "Aether" anyway? Sorry but the name is really quite generic. Yet another chaotic vortex of cosmic... something." 3/10T/M says "Fun variation on clash which really goes wild if you've got one of those clash-trigger enchantments around desire. It's not screaming to be the heart and soul of a cool engine of awesomeness but the synergy of big creatures coming into play and big creatures clashing in your library is undeniable." 7/10
SorceryRemove all permanants from the game. Then clash with all opponents. The winning player chooses a card removed from the game. That player puts the chosen card into play under his or her control. Each player puts the top card of their library on the furnish of their library. tell this affect until all permanents removed from the game this way have been put back into play."Let's see who's the lucky one now!"T/J says "Hmm how do I act advantage of something like this? No immediate card choices go to mind. 'cept maybe. And yet I can't wait to see the look on populate's faces when I play it. Ideally something I'd use when I'm on the losing side of things but this just seems made for busting up ANY kind of awkward board position in multiplayer games. Only problem I see is the insane amount of card flipping involved! That's a lot of clashes. I could get away with playing it once when it really matters but then I'd exceed retire it for worry of getting pummeled by my playgroup." 5/10T/S says "I'll be honest it's just too random. It's an okay card for the truly desparate situations but even then there's no telling what will happen. And if I win by sheer luck it's a little bit hollow. I am intrigued that I'll be able to dig maybe ten or twenty cards into my deck by the measure it resolves though." 3/10T/V says "I'm confused by the name. Is "Transmunation" a misspelling or is it a fun made up word like "Gizmometry" of Izzet fame? The "Unpredictable" part is a little bit redundant though not entirely bad. And the flavor text while appropriate is somewhat.. obvious. We get to see who's lucky. Is that a taunt? A threat? Am I missing a joke of some kind?" 4/10(Re-read the card so Melvin changed his mind)T/M says "Using Clash as a massive randomization drive is mildly more interesting than flipping coins since your deck construction can make a difference. But it's hard to build around a card like this because you're so unsure about what the board position is going to be like after it resolves. And the come in lay before it resolves is largely irrelevant since any card that might help you take control of things is likely to end up in enemy hands. It's better than I originally thought since when I first read it it looked pretty easy to manipulate the results of the clash. But in command it's just chaos for the sake of chaos and to Melvin who likes to see all the little mechanics working together in harmony randomness on this scale isn't all that fun." 4/10
SorceryAs an additional cost to play Magic Awakening sacrifice all nonland noncreature permanents you control. For each permanent sacrificed this way reveal cards from the top of your library until you show a creature card put that card into compete and put the rest of the revealed cards on the furnish of your library in any order. T/J says "I can already see how this could play out. Lots of early bet artifacts and enchantments to delay your opponent fix your mana etc. And then you displace THIS. When that that's been sitting on the table since turn one suddenly turns into a Simic Sky Swallower you can bet your opponents ordain sit up and take notice. I'm really straining to evaluate of good non-creatures that do cool things to give it but all I can think of is to get lots of them and get them as cheap as possible. Not as deep as it could be." 4/10T/S says "remove creatures eh? With the right selection of creatures in the be it's a seriously scary card. Pack four s fill the rest up with cheap enchantments and disruption and Bam! I like the fact that it's a fun separate in a casual deck but the power can seriously ramp up when you set your mind to exploiting it." 8/10T/V says "I like the flavor of channeling red and green's love/dislike relationship with artifacts and enchantments ( etc.) into a massive creature-summoning ritual. But with a label like "Awakening" it sounds more desire a recite to excite magical objects not transform them into other things. The label is sadly pretty forgettable." 4/10T/M says "Putting creatures into compete from the library is a relatively rare thing and so there's not a lot of cards out there that help support it the way that say graveyard reanimation is supported. Scrying and other library manipulation help things out but if you're grabbing three or four creatures at once you can easily drop to just play the odds. If your deck is packed with alter creatures to put into play this way you're gonna get something good. comfort as a "finisher" card it's definately build-around material and choosing a balance of enchantments and artifacts to keep control of the board until you can combo out is a fun excercise." 6/10
EnchantmentWhenever you displace a card show it. If it's a creature. Aetherflame deals damage equal to the revealed creature's power to each creature. T/J says "This one's a lot more complicated than it looks on the ascend. At first it looks pretty powerful as a board sweeper. Then you notice that it spells almost certain death for any creature that hits the come in unless your opponent deals with that enchantment. And then you go away thinking of all kinds of elusive evasive durable creatures that will defeat the rain of death and beat your opponent down wins again!" 8/10T/S says "It's a tricky one since it relies on you having creatures in your deck but also favors creatureless win conditions. And unless you've got some way to displace cards at ordain you need to wait until your next turn for it to take effect. It has a lot of potential if you really be a repeatable mass removal cause but it's just a bit too slow and a bit too random to be a good alternative to most other removal spells." 4/10T/V says "Again with the Aether. The name doesn't quite resonate with the concept if you ask me since I associate aether with summoning creatures themselves while drawing cards is usually flavored as the player's knowledge of spells in an abstract create. I gotta hand it to you though the name does turn off the tongue." 5/10T/M says "You could approach this as a sort of logic bedevil where you specifically choose creatures that aren't powerful enough to kill one another but still powerful enough to wipe out your opponent's army. Unfortunately if you're playing black/red you're looking at a lot of high cater/low toughness creatures so I anticipate you just have to make the beat of their short life spans. There's something to be said for tension and the contend of trying to mesh together conflicting goals creatively but Melvin isn't Johnny and having a card that tries to pull two different directions at the same time is a bit frustrating." 4/10
SorceryTarget opponent gains hold back of target creature you hold back with the lowest converted mana be. Then gain control of target creature that player controls with the highest converted mana cost."Why would I give you my sword for this store cap?""Uh it's a magic bottle cap?""Magic you say! Well my friend you undergo made yourself a deal!"T/J says "As a separate it's not particularly deep it does exactly what it says it does. You get a free creature from your opponent and all it costs you is some little chump. There's always some combo potential in giving your opponent a creature that's got an awkward drawback though. Stealing things is fun for Timmy and donating things is fun for Johnny so why wouldn't I like it? It's not going to be a keystone card in a deck it just enables all sorts of other fun things." 7/10T/S says "Narrower than other creature steal cards since it requires you to hold back a creature of some sort to exchange but that just means a more aggressive be. And since it's not as straightforward as say it's an easy separate to apply which makes it even more satisfying when you spot the perfect time and displace to make the change. Potentially game-changing and it gives me a chance to show off on a crushingly good play." 7/10T/V says "You could have gone for the obvious "psychic shackles of hold back" type thing but I think the flavor of some weasely con artist tricking you out of your prized creature is a lot more fun. The flavor text could use some polish though. It's kinda cute but it portrays the weasely con-artist as a bit of an amateur. Is that really the best line he could come up with? Where's the elaborate deception?" 7/10T/M says "I don't know if you intended this functionality but as worded you can easily sacrifice your creature to some other effect while Haggling is on the stack giving your opponent nothing in go. I'd consider using the "transfer" wording instead as open on which means both things undergo to be in compete in order for the exchange to take displace. Anyway as desire as both you and your opponent have a fairly wide curve of creatures in your be I don't think there's much deck-building you can do to hone this card's effectiveness. It plays well with cheap weenie decks but that comfort leaves things pretty open. Build-around potential isn't that great it's just a nice flexible card." 4/10(5 points arbitrarily deducted for not meeting the multicolor criteria)
Riorvard and G_X did not submit a card and undergo been eliminated. But from this point on if there are any no-show-ers they're welcome to step approve into the game and reclaim their place.
ROUND 2 - The Big conceive of RoundThis round couldn't be simpler. I give you with three images and you pick one to turn into a separate. Out of the six of you the lowest two scores will be eliminated. May the Vorth be with you. conceive of One: Ooze
I'm not sure Clash really works as a good randomizer in this inspect. The intent of the card seems to be that every permanent is up for grabs to whoever gets lucky but once a player hits a really big CMC card they're going to roll with it. If you show a Darksteel Colossus early in the process you basically rake in everybody else's board no questions asked. And no matter how much fun it sounds to make a deck that does that it's pretty much Bah-Roken. That could be fixed but once you remove the clashing element of the card there's not much else you can do to build your be around this
You missed a key part of this. The ability reads "Each player puts the top card of their library on the bottom". So no separate is seen more than once unless we separate through the whole library. "Transmunations" is a play off the word "transmute" but yes it's entirely made up. It was supposed to give of the idea of things changing into other things but in a kinda "I dont experience what's going on" kind of way. How does Johnny act advantage of this? Packing his be FULL of High MC spells making him much more likely to displace cards. Make it Tron/Cloudpost + Mycosynth Lattice for maximum fun. Plus for a timmy having a deck full of high mana costs is half the fun
Creature-OozeCummulative Upkeep-Magmatic Ooze deals 1 damage to each non-ooze creature. When Magmatic Ooze is put into the graveyard it deals alter equal to the be of age counters on it to target player."I sent out some scouts a few hours ago. What happened to them?"-Ib. Halheart Tactition4/4
