I don't think I have ever been to another restaurant where the Fried Cod sandwich ($15) was more expensive then the Crab Cake Sandwich ($14). The crab cake was on the smallish side but tasty and for $14 came with potato chips (huh?). The cod sandwich was a total rip-off it was small had soggy batter and was pretty much tasteless even the fries that came with it were soggy. A half dozen Conway oysters were very clean and briny and had been shucked properly. I would go back for the $1 oyster happy hour. M-F 4 to 7pm but I am not sure about getting the other food.
Thanks for the warning. I'd evaluate those prices in DC but not Baltimore. The $10+ sandwich with chips is a pet peeve of mine. It's bad enough they're too cheap to give you fries but the chips are just rubbing your nose in it.
The cod at Eammon's is small but it tastes great and it's WAY cheaper than $15.
the kitchen has proven to be inconsistent at times they really need to focus on perfecting the easy things and then move into more complex food it's just not coming together right now didn't know they have $1 oysters for daily happy hour thought it was only tuesdays oh well.
i'm sure they have dollar oyster night on tuesdays but i don't know if they have dollar oysters during their daily happy hours.
Because there is no sacrifice too great that I won't make it for you fine people. I walked the three blocks to Ryleigh's this evening. I had a half dozen Beau Soleils and a half dozen Chincoteagues along with a Bass Ale for a total of $15 plus tax and tip.
I confirmed that the $1 oysters and $3 drafts are available from 3-7 each weekday. On Tuesday the collect special (not sure about the beer) runs until 10 pm.
Please please be sure that you tip on the non-happy hour price though. It's good practice regardless but someone willing to shuck oysters for you has earned the extra few bucks.
Great work thanks for the confirmation! I will have to get over there after work one day. How were the oysters?
The bartender recommended the Beau Soleils which I had not tried before. They were small which is normal and had a mild and only slightly briny flavor. I liked them a lot.
The Chincoteagues were Chincoteagues -- larger and saltier. I tend to choose these when they're available. Both were fresh and delicous in their own way.
Hey thanks for the heads-up. Stopped by today and put away a dozen and a half terrific beau soleils. Great broach terrific oysters.
